The Visioning Session
During the Visioning Session stakeholders, including faculty and industry, work collaboratively to map the intended learning outcomes for the program. These outcomes are reviewed for context, scope, complexity and brevity before they are finalized. Faculty uses the Scoring Guide for Intended Outcomes to complete this process. The final program learning outcomes are used to complete the Mapping Session(s), Ideal Graduate Profile, Curriculum Alignment Frameworks and check for 21st century skill development.
Facilitating the Process
A Curriculum Consultant can facilitate the visioning session and work with program stakeholders to draft and collect feedback on program outcome statements.
As part of the process, participants also create an Ideal Graduate Profile that describes the role(s) we are preparing students for once they graduate and the key concepts the program will address.
Final documentation for this process is compiled by the *curriculum committee and can be included in the overall program review documentation.
* A Curriculum Committee is assigned by the program Chair or Dean and typically includes one or two faculty members, the Chair and a Curriculum Specialist. Industry representatives and alumni are also sometimes included.
